S&T: Overtime Rule Change Update & Covid-19 in the Workplace

The presentation will begin with an update on Pennsylvania’s Overtime Rule which was published in the October 3, 2020 Pennsylvania Bulletin.  This is the first update to the Commonwealth’s overtime regulations in more than four decades.  The new regulation has updated the duties tests for executive, administrative and professional workers so that it more closely aligns with the Federal Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).  Further, the new regulation changes the minimum salary threshold every year, which is a departure from the FLSA, and begins on October 3, 2021.

Additionally, COVID-19 has disrupted everyone’s life over the course of the last year.  Business owners are confronted with ever changing and confusing guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and the Pennsylvania Department of Health.  Further, the monetary assistance available to businesses through such Acts as the Families First Coronavirus Response Act, can also be difficult to navigate through.  The presentation will conclude with answers to some common employer questions pertaining to COVID-19 in the workplace.
