Michael Porter, Education Coordinator
MILTON – The Central PA Chamber of Commerce has hired Michael Porter as Education Coordinator.
Porter assumes the role of administrating the programs of the Central PA Business & Education Association. This includes serving as the Building Leaders for the Susquehanna Valley (BLSV) Director.
He’ll be working closely with area businesses and schools to provide opportunities to help students decide on their career paths. Programs include: School Counts!, career fairs, legislative breakfasts, job shadowing and more.
Porter takes the reigns from Jeff Shaffer, who held the position for the past five years. Shaffer is now the Communications Director of the Central PA Chamber.
“I’m excited to be starting with the Central PA Chamber of Commerce,” Porter said. “It’s a great organization with great people and great success thus far.
“I hope to continue the success the organization has had and build upon it. As the Education Coordinator, I am especially looking forward to getting to work with the students in our Building Leaders for the Susquehanna Valley (BLSV) program. I believe that it is important to instill great leadership skills and abilities in the youth of today, so that we will have a more successful future, especially here in Central PA.”
Porter, a native of Kentucky, brings along several credentials. In 2015, he received a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration and Communication from Georgetown College. And, just this past spring, he received a Master’s of Business Administration from Eastern Kentucky University.
“We welcome Michael to the Central PA Chamber team,” said Dale Moyer, Interim President/CEO. “He brings a fresh perspective to the organization, outgoing personality and a love of working with students.
“Give the Chamber a call or stop by and welcome Michael.”
