About
Girls on the Run is an evidence-based, positive youth development program that uses running as a tool to teach critical life skills which help girls navigate their lives with confidence. Small teams of girls meet for 10 weeks each fall and spring and are guided in dynamic conversation, running games and activities by volunteers trained to create a positive, inclusive, trauma sensitive space.. Over the course of the program, girls develop a robust toolkit of social emotional skills, including how to stand up for themselves and others, resolve conflict in a healthy way and deal with peer pressure. Girls complete an impact project in their communities and celebrate the end of the program by completing a 5K with an adult running buddy. Girls on the Run is accessible to every girl, regardless of ability or income. Girls on the Run programs are offered throughout south central and central PA at schools and community sites.
