Harvest Festival Princess Pageant
Christine Gabel selected to Represent the Central PA Chamber of Commerce
Christine Gabel, daughter of Lee and Penny Gabel, sponsored by the Central PA Chamber of Commerce will participate in the Milton Harvest Festival Princess Pageant. Her advisor is Tabitha Beaver, Communication & Education Coordinator.
"Chrissie is a great candidate. Her resume is incredible. She has done things that most people will never do in a lifetime. She is a loving, hardworking, intelligent, and friendly person who comes from a wonderful family. I am honored to advise such a bright young woman. I know that she will do a great job representing the Chamber," said Tabitha.
The theme of the 32nd Annual Harvest Festival is "Harvesting Our Traditions." As a Central Pennsylvania native, Chrissie has welcomed many traditions that revolve around her family, church, and education, and work.
Christine, or Chrissie, is beginning her senior year at Meadowbrook Christian School this fall. She remains on the distinguished honor roll with a 3.98 grade point average, and she has served as Class President for two years. She also serves her student government as the Community Service Chairman and as a Formal Committee representative.
Chrissie has spent much of her time volunteering with many different organizations. As Secretary of the Key Club, she has actively participated in Project Linus, soup kitchens, Trunk or Treat, American Red Cross of Upper Northumberland County, Wooly Worm Festival, Dewart Blueberry Festival, Meals on Wheels, Handup Foundation, and as the Chairman for the Toys for Tots Foundation.
Other school activities that Chrissie participates in is Family and Consumer Science, layout editor for the Yearbook, and a junior mission trip to the Dominican Republic where she was involved in construction, painting, and teaching Vacation Bible School to fourth and fifth graders.
As a Vacation Bible School leader and Master Hands Puppet Team member, Chrissie has taken an active part in her church. She is active in her Youth Group as well as the Junior Church with two through five year olds. She is a church volunteer for the local parades, and has travelled to St. Lucia two times for Church mission trips.
Chrissie works as a summer daycare helper at Meadowbrook. She is also a certified CPR babysitter, and Sports Trainer Assistant to Mike Mertz. While many students spend their summers away from school, Chrissie seems to spend even more time in school. She also works at the school organizing sports equipment and uniforms, laminating, cleaning, sorting and checking in new curriculum and books, and filing.
Although pageants are not on her resume, Chrissie is looking forward to the event. "I was nervous about it at first, but now I think it will be fun," said Chrissie.
The Princess receives a $300 scholarship sponsored by Milton Savings Bank plus a tiara and diamond necklace from Fedders Jewelers. The first runner-up will be given a $100 scholarship from the family of Shirley Loreman. All contestants receive a silver charm, compliments of Fedders Jewelers.
Candidate portraits will be on display at Fullmer Office Supply window, Broadway, Milton during the week of the Harvest Festival.
